Here’s a pretty weird cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” that starts off as a parody/homage to the Dead Milkmen’s “Bitchin’ Camaro”. It’s by Bobby Birdman and Little Wings and it’s from a compilation called Bro Zone. I think that it’s kind of goofy but nice. That’s today’s blog post everybody! Stay tuned in the future for more of my trademark insights on music and the music industry.
More music from old horror movies that I haven’t seen. This is the theme to a movie called “Devil’s Nightmare” and the music is by Alessandro Alessandroni and Nora Orlandi. Is there a better name than Alessandro Alessandroni? Probably somewhere, but I haven’t heard it. The movie is about some vacationers that get trapped in a creepy castle and there’s a succubus. I bet it’s really good. How much do you want to bet? I’m willing to bet you $7,000 that Devil’s Nightmare is a good movie. Is that fair? I might go up or down a little bit depending on what you’re willing to bet, but I’m not crazy enough to bet more than $10,000 on this. If you’re feeling like a chicken, I’ll drop down as low as $4,500 on this, but not a penny lower. If we’re going to bet on this, we’re going to make it a real bet. None of that pansy ten dollar shit. That might cut it in your Bridge Club, but betting on the quality of horror movies from the 70’s is a Real Man’s game.
People overuse the word “epic” all the time, but this really feels like an epic arrangement to me. It covers a lot of ground from basic piano and flute to a powerful choral/orchestral movement. This is from a Lucio Fulci movie called The Beyond which I’ve been meaning to watch for the past three years or so, but haven’t gotten around to for one reason or another. The song is by Fabio Frizzi, who along with Giorgio Tucci, is responsible for the amazing theme from Lucio Fulci’s “Zombie.” He’s also responsible for a bunch of other amazing music from a bunch of other amazing sleazy Italian horror films. I wish I could say more about The Beyond, but I can’t since I’ve never seen it. I’ve heard that it’s really gory and I hope it’s better than Joe D’Amato’s “Beyond the Darkness” because that’s another Italian horror movie with “Beyond” in the title that I really hated. Everything about that movie was gross. But that’s a subject for another time. Right now, it’s Fabio Frizzi time. Let’s celebrate the majesty of this song. Celebrate! Celebrate! Let’s Celebrate!! Hooray! Celebration! Let’s Celebrate!! Hooray! Celebrate! Celebrations! Celebrations!! CELEBRATIONS!!!
Here’s a song by The Clean that I’ve always really liked. It has a sort of timeless feel to it where it could be 25 years old or it could have come out two years ago. I never really bothered to check until just now and it turns out that this is a song from 2009. I wouldn’t have guessed that, but I would never guess that anything happened in 2009 because I’m still not convinced that 2009 is a year that actually existed. I don’t need to explain this theory, do I? It’s going to take a very long time and it will probably blow your mind straight out of your head. For your safety and well-being, I will refrain from explaining why the year 2009 didn’t happen. But one of these days… when you least expect it…
Arf Arf ARf. Here’s “Poodles as Usual” by Herb and Elena Ayers. It’s a song about having a puppydog. Woof! This guy worked his whole life and then his wife gave him a poodle-dog for his retirement and now that poodle-dog is driving old Herb nuts! And the neighbors have a poodle-dog too! Oh Herb! What are you gonna do about all those poodle-dogs? How are you gonna handle all those poodle-dogs? Woof Woof Woof!

What time is it? It’s Jandek Time! Yeah! That’s right. It’s time to listen to Jandek! This one has Nancy holding down the vocals with The Corwood Representative on guitar. If you’re like me, you think it’s fun to feel creeped out and you also like crying. If you’re like me, you’ll have a bunch of fun watching and listening to “Nancy Sings” by Jandek.
Alan Vega performing “Rocket USA” with Oneida as his backing band. That sounds pretty cool, right? If you can’t get the other dude from Suicide to play with you, why not ask Oneida to back you up? I’m sure they’d do it. It would probably sound different from the original version, but it would probably sound pretty good, too. So that all happened and this is good and everyone is happy. All the people are glad. Love is in the air. You lost some weight. You’re getting a tan. Everything is great. People are having fun. Things are nice. Children are laughing and having a good time. People are dancing but they don’t dance in a way that offends anybody. I love you. I hope you have a nice night. I hope you have a pleasant afternoon tomorrow as well.
I’m not sure if The Cricket ever caught on. I hadn’t heard of it before this song, but apparently Jay Cee and the Incredibles know about the Cricket and this is a song about The Cricket Dance. It sounds like Jay Cee and the Incredibles didn’t invent The Cricket Dance because they mention it being originally performed by a cricket band. I think it’s safe to assume this is a band of cricket bugs and not people who play the sport of cricket due to the CHIRP sound that gets used frequently in the song. Do you want to know a secret? That chirp sound is my favorite part of this song. There you go. Now you know one of my deepest secrets. It feels good to have let it out. It was driving me crazy and I needed to tell someone. If I would have gone another day without telling somebody how I feel about the chirp sound in this song, I probably would have become enraged and would have smashed up a random car or two with my bare hands. I don’t want to be forced to smash things. I want to be a nice boy. So thank you for listening. I might tell you another secret tomorrow ;)![]()
